In this internet world, information about Islam can be found in abundance. However, not all the information offered by such sites is accurate and conform to the principles and virtues of Islam. Many extreme and radical interpretations of Islamic concepts can also be found on the web.
There are many groups out there who are attempting to propagate radical ideologies to serve their own limited motives and political ends. They take the Quran literally, instead of employing the proper methods of interpretation. They disregard the context and situation where the verses were revealed to the point that they end up using their wayward understanding to make misleading judgement and commit violent acts. They choose and pick from the Quran and the Prophetic Traditions, and regard jihad as a tool and rationale for violent aggression.
This is certainly not the religious life and understanding that we wish for in building a Muslim community of excellence.
As more and more people are using the web as a source of reference in their religious understanding, it is important that we are made aware of what is and what is not accurate information on Islam. Only through the correct understanding of Islam as embodied in the teachings of Quran and the traditions of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) that we can live and build a healthy and progressive religious life. As a community, we also need to set our priorities on the what is important to keep our faith while at the same time thrive in this multi-religious society, secular state and a globalised world.
This site hope to provide tips, guide and information to tell radical and extreme ideologies apart and to live a harmonious and progressive religious life.
